CURRENTS: Captain Josh on the Pacific Quest is off to a great start on the white sea bass fishing. Wednesday night our charter group departed Pierpont Landing for Catalina. They tried for squid for a few hours, Josh reported the squid to be really small and hard to catch.
If your heading to the island this weekend he suggested it would be worth buying squid from one of the light boats. After getting bait Josh anchored up and started fishing. At grey light they hooked their first fish but it was short. Then a short time later they hooked another one, Josh said a much nicer fish as the fish. It was just out of gaffs reach when a sea loin came out of no wear and ate it. Josh was not too happy. They hooked a few more fish but could not manage to get one on the boat.. Josh moved and fished a few more spots on the island for some really good calico bass fishing and did land a couple of nice halibut. Later in the after noon Josh set anchor again. It was time for round two. With a few baits in the water, they were on the WSB again. Finally our first WSB of the season
on the deck. The anglers hooked a few more fish after that and managed to finish off with five nice sea bass on the deck for 8 anglers. All 20-30 # fish.
The Pacific Quest will be fishing Catalina for white sea bass thru June, we have plenty of open charter dates and open party trips on-line. If you would like to jump on board just give Greg a call 951-491-1004 or Gary 760-212-0397 or use our book on line feature at questsportfishing.com
